Born in Montreal, Quebec, Dr Laramee grew in the French Culture, filled with fresh food and ‘joie de vivre’. She spent most of her childhood as a gymnast and a downhill skier in Canada. Prior to going to Medical School in Montreal, she chose to study exercise physiology and health promotion. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Sherbrooke. In 1987 she was awarded the prize of Excellence from the Canadian Association of Sport Sciences ( Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology), which is offered to the best graduating student in Canada.
Her background in health promotion defines her actual medical practice. Prevention of chronic disease is her daily goal, so that her patients can age in health and beauty. She has developed a unique concept where curative medicine is only a portion of the visit. Wellness and preventive medicine are of prime importance, and Dr Laramee uses tools such as genetic testing, weight management instruction and advanced biochemical analysis to make sure that the body is functioning optimally, now and in the future. Clinical research is also an essential part of her practice, and allows her to contribute to the understanding of diseases and their treatments. Aesthetic medicine completes the menu of services, as she works to help patients feel good and look good as life goes on. Dr Laramee lives like she preaches. When not working, she spends her time cooking gourmet food made with love, spending time her husband – whose work and life she admires deeply, and caring for her beloved animals. Nature is her source of faith and inspiration. |
