Q: What is Botox?
A: Botox is the trade name for Botulinum toxin type A, one of several different toxins produced by Clostridium bacteria. The bacterium itself is not injected. The injected toxin is a protein manufactured by the bacterium, and when injected, it temporarily paralyzes the muscles underlying wrinkles, smoothing out the skin on top. It inhibits the nerve terminal, so that the muscle will not respond. You literally can’t frown after the treatment, but you don’t lose sensation or expression. The nerve eventually sprouts a new terminal. Botox is successfully being used in areas of the face, neck, and body world wide, and to date is safer than the origin suggests. |
Q: Are there any serious side effects from Botox?
A: Botox is given with such a tiny needle that there is minimal discomfort involved, but it is a needle. Should patients have an aversion to needles, an analgesic cream is used. There can be a slight chance of minimal and temporary bruising at the injection site. Other negative side effects can be eyelid drooping if the Botox seeps below the eyebrow and hits the muscle that controls the lid, BUT that is very rare. Eye drops can reverse the Botox effect for about six hours. Otherwise, the patient just has to wait until the nerve regenerates. |
Q: How often do I need Botox?
A: The best choice is consistently every 3 months. We will help you stay on track to get the greatest benefits by scheduling this in advance and sending you reminders. |

Q: How much do your procedures cost?
A: As part of your free Consultation, we will define for you exactly how Juvederm™ filler would benefit you and estimate for you how much would be best. Juvederm™ is purchased by syringe of use. |
Q: How does hair removal works?
A: It can be done with a sophistiacated light energy source or laser, depending on your needs and your type of skin. The light or laser is absorbed by the pigment in your hair, which effectively disables the hair follicle. No device on the market works on white hair at this time. Our equipment differs from many of the market place in that we can treat all skin types and color and is also the fastest on the market. |
Q: Is hair removal totally permanent?
A: Yes and you can expect an 85% reduction in hair after four to six treatments (nine for the lips). However, as we age, our hair patterns chage, so this does not prevent the possibility of new hair growth over the years. |
Q: How does hair removal differ from electrolysis?
A: Electrolysis involves inserting a needle into individual hair follicles, one at the time. It can be costly, painful and time-consuming to do more than a small area. Our technology delivers energy to hundreds of follicles at a time, which makes it ideal for treating large and small areas. |
Q: What does hair removal feel like?
A: A series of short snaps, like a rubber ban snapping but no local anesthesia or pain medication is necessary. Some people may opt for a topical numbing cream. |
Q: What does laser skin rejuvenation do?
A: Not only it minimizes fine lines but also reduces lae pores, uneven crepe-paper type pebbled skin texture and overall redness and flushing. |
Q: What can I expect afterwards a laser skin rejuvenation treatment?
A: This is a very comfortable treatment. You can return to normal activities immediately. You may be flushed from the heat but that will disappear within a few hours of treatment. |
Q: What does "social downtime" means?
A: Downtime is the time spent recovering from a procedure. With “social” downtime, you can continue your normal daily activities. However, you may not wish to attend important social events because your face will appear pink/red for 3-4 days. |
Q: What is a Pearl treatment like?
A: The practitioner guides the Pearl laser over the skin, gently removing the top layer of the epidermis and heating a layer of tissue below it. The treatment takes approximately 10-15 minutes for a full face. The treatment feels like a series of brief pinches. |
Q: Is Pearl Painful?
A: On a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 representing pain, most people report the treatment feeling like a 2 or 3. Topical anesthesia is typically used before the procedure. |
Q: What can I expect after the treatment?
A: After treatment, the skin will look like it is sunburned. Your practitioner will apply ointment on the skin to keep it moist. The skin will need to be kept moist for 3–4 days. Since you cannot wear sunscreen during this time, you will need to wear protective clothing and limit sun exposure for a few days following the treatment. After 3-4 days, the top layer of skin peels off revealing new, healthy, vibrant skin underneath. Social downtime is about 4-6 days. |
Q: When will I see results?
A: You will see noticeable results on day 3 or 4, when the superficial tissue has peeled off, leaving fresh, new, healthy skin underneath. |
Q: Who is a candidate for a Pearl treatment?
A: Patients of any age with sun damage, uneven skin texture and fine lines and wrinkles can benefit from Pearl treatments; however, the most common age group seeking treatment is between 25-60. |
Q: How many treatments are recommended?
A: Many patients experience excellent results after one treatment. Others may want a second treatment for best results. |
Q: How does Pearl compare to other “like” laser treatments?
A: Pearl offers the most effective treatment to address fine lines & wrinkles, sun damaged skin and uneven texture without wound care and the lengthy downtime required with traditional Erbium and CO2 laser procedures. |
Q: What is the difference between Pearl and Fractionated technologies?
A: Today’s fractionated technologies treat only small portions of the face during each treatment. Typically, 4-6 treatments, each with 4-6 days of downtime and spaced a month apart, are required to treat the face. |
Q: What is the LimeLight Facial?
A: The LimeLight Facial is a new, non-invasive approach to skin rejuvenation using Cutera’s LimeLight. The procedure offers the advantage of improving skin tone and surface imperfections associated with aging and photo damage. |
Q: What areas can be treated by LimeLight?
A: The LimeLight Facial is ideal for any part of your face, neck and décolleté with skin redness, telangiectasia (tiny veins) or brown spots. Light (low contrast) brown spots, which were previously difficult to resolve, respond very well to treatment. |
Q: What does the LimeLight treatment do?
A: The practitioner can customize your LimeLight Facial to your skin type and selectively treat the brown and/or red pigmented areas on your skin. It’s the heating of the pigmented brown or red cells that causes the therapeutic effect. |
Q: What do LimeLight treatments feel like?
A: When the pulse of light is delivered, patients will experience a mild pinching or stinging sensation. Gel is recommended to cool the skin before vascular treatments. Anesthesia or pain medicine is typically not required. |
Q: How long will the LimeLight treatments take?
A: Treatment time depends on the area of the body being treated. However, most treatments should take less than one hour. |
Q: How many LimeLight treatments will I need?
A: One to three treatments are usually sufficient to see results. Additional treatments may be recommended, especially for excessively sundamaged skin. |
Q: What happens after the LimeLight treatment?
A: Immediately following treatment, brown spots will start to darken and your skin may appear slightly red. The treated area may be mildly swollen. This typically lasts a few hours and possibly a day or longer. Make-up can be applied to cover the redness. |
Q: When will I see results after a LimeLight Treatment?
A: Within one to three weeks, the darkened spots will flake off and fade. Diffuse redness or telangiectasia will decrease and your mottled complexion will improve. |
Q: After LimeLight treatment, will the spots and redness reappear over time?
A: New brown spots, telangiectasia and diffuse redness may appear with new sun damage; however they too can be treated. Remember to always apply broad-spectrum sunscreen when outdoors to minimize sun damage and the appearance of new spots and diffuse redness. Rosacea is chronic and cannot be “cured” with any laser or light source, however its appearance can be improved. |
Q: What is Laser Genesis?
A: The Laser Genesis procedure utilizes non-invasive laser technology to safely, discretely and effectively treat fine-line wrinkles, diffuse and excessive redness and helps manage large pores, uneven skin texture, and scars. You can expect to see subtle yet consistent results after each treatment, without unwanted side effects such as bruising or excessive skin irritation. Treatments can be performed in a relaxed, comfortable manner without the use of topical anesthetics or gel. |
Q: How does Laser Genesis work?
A: By gently heating the upper dermis well below your skin's surface, Laser Genesis stimulates collagen regrowth. Additional heat is generated in dilated capillaries to reduce redness. |
Q: How many treatments will I need?
A: The treatment results are often subtle. On average, you may require four to six treatments in order to achieve optimal results. Every patient's condition and needs vary. For more information about your expected results or the number of treatments necessary, consult your healthcare professional. |
Q: What are the possible side effects?
A: Although most patients report few if any side effects, the most common is a slight redness that disappears within a few hours of treatment. Consult your healthcare professional for complete information about the benefits and risks of treatment. |
Q: What kind of textural improvements can you expect with Laser Genesis skin therapy?
A: Over the course of four to five treatments, Laser Genesis can help restore the skin's youthful glow and appearance by smoothing out uneven texture caused by aging, sun damage or scars. You will see a more even, healthy complexion as large pores are reduced in size, and minor imperfections are diminished. The individual treatment results are subtle, but the overall effect of multiple treatments can be quite dramatic. |
Q: How does your vein therapy differs from other technology?
A: CoolGlide combines the ideal laser wavelength with the most flexible parameters to deliver a superior vascular laser system. It treats a broad range of vessels from tiny spider veins to deep blue reticular veins quickly, safely, and effectively. Patients with dark, light or tanned skin can experience outstanding results with minimal bruising or blistering. |
Q: How does your Vein Therapy work?
A: The Cutera CoolGlide systems deliver pulses of light energy which cause the blood within the vein to coagulate, eventually destroying the vessel which is later reabsorbed by your body. Blood flow will then be redirected to veins deeper below your skin's surface, where it should be. |
Q: How many treatments will I need for vein therapy?
A: Often, patients find that one or two treatments are sufficient. However, the number of treatments necessary depends on the number, color, and size of the vessels being treated. Since individual results vary, ask your medical professional about your specific condition. |
Q: Do the vein therapy treatments hurt?
A: Most patients experience a stinging sensation as the pulses of energy are delivered through the handpiece. Although no local anesthesia or pain medication is typically required, many patients opt to use a topical anesthetic prior to treatment. Following the treatment, the pain is minimal to nonexistent. |
Q: What are the possible side effects after vein therapy?
A: Although many patients report few if any side effects, those most commonly noticed are slight reddening and local swelling of the skin. These effects typically last for less than 24 hours. Some patients may experience bruising and, in rare instances, blistering may occur. Consult with your medical professional for complete information on the benefits and risks of treatment. |
Q: When will I see results after vein therapy?
A: Most patients find that the majority of the treated veins have shown significant improvement within two to six weeks of treatment. However, your final results may not be apparent for several months. Over time, it is possible for new veins to appear, but these too can be removed with the Cutera CoolGlide. |
Q: What is Titan skin tightening?
A: The Cutera Titan® gives you an all-natural option to enhance skin tone. Titan uses light energy to heat the dermis deep beneath your skin's surface. Without surgery, recovery time, or injections, Titan is an ideal solution for your face, abdomen, arms and more. |
Q: How does the Cutera Titan work?
A: Titan uses a safe infrared light to heat the dermis well below the skin's surface. During the procedure, the skin's surface (epidermis) is protected through continuous cooling with the Titan handpiece. |
Q: The Titan difference
A: Titan's light-based platform provides a more uniform distribution of energy for heating the deep dermis than other energy sources, such as RF (radio-frequency). |
Q: Who can be treated?
A: Since the Titan procedure heats tissue under the skin's surface, patients of any skin type or age can be treated. Your practitioner can advise you if the Titan is right for you. |
Q: What is the 3D Skin Rejuvenationtm
A: Every person ages at a different rate and in different ways. Some develop redness, age or sun spots. Others have large pores, fine lines, wrinkles or lax skin. You may have one, two or all of these conditions. Cutera’s 3D Skin Rejuvenation takes a three-tiered approach to rejuvenating your skin for all of these conditions. |
Q: Who can be treated with the 3D Skin Rejuvenation?
A: Men and women of any age who wish to improve their skin can be treated. Skin which is lax, has surface wrinkles, redness, brown spots, or enlarged pores are the most common conditions to treat. |
Q: What areas can be treated with the 3D Skin Rejuvenation?
A: The most popular areas for treatment are the face and neck, but other body parts such as the hands, arms and abdomen, are also frequently treated. |
Q: How many 3D Skin Rejuvenation treatments will I need?
A: Each treatment regimen is different and customized to an individual patient’s needs. Most patients can expect between 2 and 6 treatments. |
Q: Are there any side effects from the 3D Skin Rejuvenation?
A: The most common side effect is a slight redness or mild swelling in the treated area that disappears within a few hours. |
Q: When will I see results after 3D Skin Rejuvenation?
A: Immediate results are observed by some patients. More typically, you will see results in two to four weeks and improvements will continue for several months. |
Q: How does 3D Skin Rejuvenation compare with other laser treatments?
A: Most lasers treat only one or two aging conditions. They may diminish red or brown spots; they may just reduce lax skin. Only 3D Skin Rejuvenation from Cutera addresses all of the most common conditions of aging – age spots, sun damage, fine lines, wrinkles and lax skin. |
